A Note from Sheena

When we meet you’ll soon forget that we’re just meeting for the first time. Connecting with people on a personal level is my forte. How else would I make you feel so comfortable in front of the camera? 

Our conversation begins the moment we meet and continues throughout the session. We get rid of the awkwardness right off the bat. Natural, true to life, in-the-moment photos are what we specialize in. 

We love seeing grooms with tears in their eyes when they see their beautiful bride, we love seeing the pure joy on your family’s faces when you’re pronounced MARRIED!!!! So many special occasions that we have the opportunity to relive through beautiful images. Those are the moments that remind me what I was put on this earth for. 

My mom was the reason my love for photography started from day one. She always had a nice camera and would let me carry it to school even though I was just a little kid. I got the coolest photos of my friends (I still have them). When my mom passed away in 2020 I realized we barely had any photos together and we didn’t have any professional family photos at all. When my stepdad passed just a year later, that really reenforced how important it is not only to have photos, but how important it is to print our photos. I scoured the depths of storage bins to find their wedding photos on a disc. I now have a gorgeous printed album of their special day that means so much to me.

I fell into a journey towards a photography career back in 2012 while I studied Advertising & Graphic Design at Concord University. My yearbook instructor tasked me with taking photos to go along with stories of particular students to be featured in the yearbook. I treated it like I was photographing for Time Magazine. I was hooked. That’s when I truly fell in love with photography. I got a business license soon after and started as a Wedding Photography Intern that year. Photography became my lifesource from then on. I worked at a well known Advertising Agency for 4 years before leaving to pursue my photography dreams full time. That’s been 7 years ago and the dream just keeps getting bigger.

Jake joined the team in 2021, the same year we opened our first studio. He was my life partner already (now HUSBAND!). He is so talented it blows me away when I see the photos and videos he captures. We both see moments from a different perspective, giving you so many unique captures!

I could tell you more about our story, but you truly already know it. You’ve seen the photos all around my website. They are all a reflection of us and we’re present in every single one, we’re just a bit outside of the frame.

Jake Hanson

Videographer + Photographer + Branding

Jake has been part of the SPDP team since 2020, full time since the summer of 2021. What began as an unplanned assistant position (he was my partner so of course he was a pack mule to start with haha) quickly grew to a full time video/photo position when we realized he had such natural talent!

Jake oversees and photographs for our partner company Iris Divine Photography. His main specialty is capturing cinematic-quality wedding films and carefully curated branding videos.

Jake and I are not only business partners, but also life partners and became a husband/wife duo in the Summer of 2025! When we’re not out photographing your insanely beautiful faces, you can find us hiking in the WV mountains, trying out a new fancy restaurant, at home tending to our cats/dogs/goats/turtles, or playing video games in our PJs.
